Turn It In Instructions

Below are instructions on how to submit papers in "Turn It In" [aka: TurnItIn]

 

How to Log In to "Turn It In":

  1. Go to http://www.turnitin.com/static/index.html
  2. At the top of the page, type in your COCC email address beside E-Mail:
  3. At the top of the page, type in the password that was sent to you via email from the "Turnitin Helpdesk". If you did not receive a password from the "Turnitin Helpdesk" follow the instructions provided at the tutorial located at: http://www.turnitin.com/static/videos/student_ppm.html

The course password will be assigned in class.

How to Submit a Paper to "Turn It In":

  1. Once you are logged into "Turn It In", you will see a link to any courses of yours that are using "Turn It In".
  2. Click on the hyperlink to the course you'd like to enter. You will be taken to the "Assignment Page" for that course.
  3. To submit a paper to "Turn It In", click the SUBMIT icon beside the assignment name (the icon looks like a little piece of paper with a blue arrow beside it).
  4. Enter a Submission Title for your paper.
  5. Click the BROWSE button and find the paper you want to submit.
  6. Click the SUBMIT button. You will be taken to a page with will show you the content of your paper.
  7. If the content of the paper is the CORRECT content, please hit the YES, SUBMIT button. If the content isn't for the right paper, hit the NO, GO BACK button and submit the correct paper.
  8. After you hit the YES, SUBMIT button you are given a "Digital Receipt" of your paper.
  9. Click the PORTFOLIO icon (the icon of an open folder) to return to the course assignment page.
  10. Now you will see that you have submitted a paper, and you will also see an Originality percent score under the CONTENTS column. This percent represents the originality of the writing you submitted.
  11. Click on the percent score (or the color). You'll be taken into the Originality Report for your paper. Here you can view the content in your paper that matched sources that are credited to other writers.
